circular – natural – powerful

Rising water temperatures – driven by climate change – promote the growth of aquatic biomass.
As a result, the effort and costs of watercourse maintenance increase. At the same time, more and more unused biomass accumulates.

More than 23 million tonnes of plastic enter our sensitive ecosystem worldwide every year – with consequences for all of us.
Most of it is harmful to the environment, waterways and waste management systems, as these plastics hardly break down naturally or efficiently.
As a pioneer of a novel biorefinery approach, limu.eco transforms aquatic biomass from local waterways into high-value additives for sustainable material solutions.
Our first additive is intended to be added to biodegradable plastics, making them significantly more efficient.
In doing so, we utilise untapped raw material potential and shape the material world of tomorrow.
For our customers, this means:
less environmental impact, short supply chains, consistent quality, and a significantly reduced carbon footprint in their products.
Our upcycling creates ecological and economic value for a more environmentally responsible future.

We use aquatic biomass precisely when it is generated and redirect these feedstock streams into a novel valorisation pathway.
Through our upcycling process, what was once waste is transformed into a valuable raw material and refined into additives for sustainable material solutions.
This creates a closed-loop cycle, from harvest through processing to biodegradation.
For biodegradable plastics to become widely adopted and effectively reduce the burden on our ecosystem, efficient material solutions are needed.
This is where we come in: Our first additive is intended to accelerate the degradation of biodegradable plastics.
Patent pending
Our drop-in additive can be seamlessly integrated into standard processes such as injection molding or film extrusion.

Through these processing methods, we enable a wide range of applications across various materials. Our target audiences include the plastics industry, particularly manufacturers of sustainable products, as well as brands seeking to further develop their material solutions in an environmentally responsible way.

We process aquatic plants from local waterways into functional additives for sustainable material solutions – locally, circularly, and with low CO₂ emissions.
Our raw material is produced without any cultivation: Through our newly created value chain for real circular economy, we turn aquatic waste streams into high-quality additives.
We are pioneers in what we do and how we operate – fully circular. Through the intelligent use of renewable resources, we actively drive the transition toward a circular economy.
